Eco Tools

by Noel Boehm on February 28th, 2008

What do you do if you are a green fashionista who just loves to wear makeup? Well for starters you only buy makeup that doesn’t make your skin melt off because of all the chemicals. But what do you apply it with you ask? I know you didn’t ask but work with me here. Eco Tools is a new line of cosmetic and bath accessories. ”Eco Tools  cosmetic brushes feature bamboo handles (since bamboo has a low impact on the earth’s resources), animal-free taklon bristles and metallic ferrule made from recycled aluminum cans. The cosmetic brushes are housed in reusable pouches and printed with plant-based ink.” Best of all they are available at your local drugstore. Crap, now I have to start wearing more makeup.

I recently discovered your blog, and I have really enjoyed what I’ve been reading so far. I subscribe to a variety of fashion/beauty/eco-friendly blogs, but none of them have combined them as your blog has.

This article on eco-fashionista tools is exactly what will make someone turn and consider becoming more eco-friendly. It’s been difficult realizing how much harm I’m doing to the world (and myself) by using a lot of beauty products, and I’m happy to see others are out there to help us make educated choices!

    Thanks for your hard work!

Tammy, thank you so much! You have no idea how nice that is to hear. I’m all about being the sweet fragrance. Nobody wants to be preached to about your beliefs. I struggle with the same issues you do every day. It’s like a full-time job these days trying to change my old habits and live conscisouly. Oh well we are all works in progress, no?

I recently discoved these AMAZING brushes on a quick trip to target for some shower items.
I naturally driffted over to the beauty department and saw these brushes. Im a makeup artist for 8 years , I buy brushes at least twice a month.
Most of my brushes cost $25 to $60 EACH.
In my house we recycle, and try to be a green friendly as possible. These brushes caught my eye and read the back info on the nifty package and was so happy to hear that not only are the brushes NOT MADE WITH ANIMAL HAIR BUT THEY ARE GREEN FRIENDLY !!!
    I had to try them.
I bought two. One for me and one for work.
THe next day I brought my new brush to work.
I was working on set and told the talent to close her eyes , Which one do you like best ( holding my most expensive brush in one hand and my new Eco Powder brush in the other hand.
POwdered one side with my New Brush and One with my old brush. SHE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE NEW BRUSH ( the Eco powder brush) She said wow its very silky feeling what kind of brush is that, I then told her about my trip to Target and how I found these brushes.
She loved it so much that she now owns 3 of the Eco Tools Brushes. I also went back and stocked up on these AMAZING brushes.
I bought my business brushes and of course lets not forget about me I got a few for myself as well. I have never been more happy with a makeup brush AND I REALLY MEAN THAT.
No only am I not contributing to the killing of animals for their fur but also im not chopping down millions of trees to make the brush handles. BAMBOO grows faster and is more durable , AND it doesnt effect the world.
Thanks so much for bringing these amazing brushes to my makeup world.
Im so happy Ive made a change.
