Get the Red Out

by Noel Boehm on April 8th, 2008

To say that I am tired would be an understatement. The past few days I have woken to swollen, bloodshot eyes. I’m a mom with a busy life but you know do I have to look like it? I see women all over the place and they don’t look like this. They must have nannies and housekeepers, that’s it. Or actually maybe they spend more than five minutes a day on their personal appearance. For me, I sincerely only have about five minutes. I can shower with that time or put on makeup. Which would you choose? Problem is I just can’t stand walking around looking like I’ve been in a fight everyday. “Um, no I just ran into a door that’s all.” Today was the first day I didn’t look like a maniac.

To combat the redness and some of the puffiness I soaked a piece of cheesecloth in chamomile tea. We make a container of it every few days and keep it in the refrigerator. First of all it feels good because it’s cold and it really does take care of the red if you do it long enough. If I have the time tomorrow I will try it 1-2 more times. Oh I left it on for about 10 minutes. I say about because it was broken up every 2-3 minutes by someone screaming and needing something.

Another really great de-puffer I have tried is aloe vera gel. I used to keep it in the refrigerator for applying to my hands after gymnastics practice. Then I discovered it also really relieved my eyes. I just dab it on with my ring finger and then let it dry. Works wonders and is great in a pinch. I hope I won’t need it tomorrow. No whammies.
