Local Produce Delivered: Update
So we are about halfway through our box o’ goodness from our local natural foods store and we are hooked. In our inaugural box we received: 5 bananas, 3 white onions, 6 Russet potatoes, two bunches of kale and spinach, 3 kiwis, 4 mini Pink Lady apples, a bag of golden carrots and two grapefruits *panting*. That’s all I can remember right now, but can you believe it? Oh wait, some oranges too. All of that for $25.00. We ended up spending $20.00 less than our weekly grocery budget. And since it’s like bitterly cold outside, you know the kind that makes you want to stick your hands in boiling water, I had no intention of leaving my house. Instead here comes friendly hippie kid with a burst of warm sunshine in a box. Or reusable bag, your choice. So far I have made twice baked potatoes, brown sugar glazed carrots and stir fry with spinach. I feel spoiled now. I’m off to have a kiwi and pretend I’m in the tropics somewhere.
