Stay Stylish while Going Green.
I found the best website for us fashion and luxury conscious that also have a conscience to live green as much as possible.
This site is called Green With Glamour, and their motto is “Go Green. Stay Stylish.” I love it. And I love what the site is about.
Here is a bit about the creators, two great friends, Deana and Kat:
Dear friends for over a decade, Kathleen Rowan and Deana Bracken consider themselves true Chicago-bred women. Along with the affinity for fine food, great design, and the ability to seamlessly combine urbanity with gentility - comes their mid-western appreciation for long stretches of land, great bodies of water, and sharing a toast with close friends. And it is through their shared consideration for the planet’s well-being, high style, and the heartland - that the green with glamour™ concept was born.
As the years passed and their eco-mindfulness grew, Deana and Kat - both avid shoppers, design fans, a bit Nancy Drew-ish - each began to compile files and create wishlists of their favorite environmentally-sound ventures. the two set off to follow their respective passions - Kat went after all things epicurean, ready-to-wear, and the best of beauty… while Deana chased her fondness of pottery & glass, personal adornments, and fantastic vintage finds. By merging, their wits, resources, and aesthetics … the green with glamour™ collection was cultivated.
Though Kat and Deana haven’t shared the same city for years, the digital age and fairly frequent visits have kept them close. Kat, with her background in high finance - continues to brave the Chicago winters, counting down the days ’til her local farmers market reopens. While Deana, an interior designer by trade, is the rolling stone of the two - transplanting herself every handful of years. And though she now happily resides in Silverlake - she’s got that twinkle in her eye again…. perhaps, Nashville.
Ah… the beauty of e-commerce! green with glamour is as paperless as can be, can reach eco-chic shoppers worldwide, and is run from almost anywhere (and with Deana & Kat’s penchant for travel, almost everywhere) on this beautiful planet.
Not only does the shop carry great beauty items, they carry clothing, shoes, home decor, jewelry and more. Look at just a few things I found:

Need I say more about how stylish these items are?

I am trying to understand how your products, particularly your jewelry products, are sourced as “green.” I hit the link above and I did not understand your marketing angle tied to any kind of real standard.

Hey, Marc! I recommend that you contact Green with Glamour yourself. We are not affiliated with them in any way.
It sounds to me like all of their products are from sustainable sources, and are made up of environmentally friendly materials. I think the products they carry are awesome.

Hi Teri,
I was asking because I receive all info on this issues relating to jewelry. I am one of the people in the center of a movement in the mainstream jewelry industry to promote socially responsible, eco friendly products. I created a blog, http://www.fairjewelry.org to promote these things and it is getting a good following even after two weeks. I don’t know how they could be doing “vintage” eco responsible jewelry, becaue the movement toward this issue is really recent.
Anyway, if you want, check out my webite and see some of what I’m trying to promote. I also manufacture based on fair trade and green as possible manufacturing. My site for that is http://www.celticjewelry.com

I am sorry, and misunderstood your comments, Marc. I thought you were commenting about the Green with Glamour site, but you actually are speaking about my other recent post about recycled jewelry.
I applaud your efforts, and the others as well.

Teri– thanks. I believe that this movement has to be market driven for it to really take off. So I appeciate your efforts to inform the consumer about these issues. It is really about establishing economy in support of community and ecology. We must all work in our small ways to change the way business is done, from consumer to business person. Our survival may ultimately depend upon it.
I would be interested in hearing your reaction of my recent experience at the JCK Trade Show. See the post on my blog:
