Taming of the Do

So last week I got a drastic haircut. Well I guess you can call any haircut for me drastic because I never get my hair cut. She took off about 4-5 inches to create a swingy, blunt bob. Partly it was just for a change but mostly it was just to cut all the unhealthy, uneven parts off. A clean slate if you will. I had been adamant about being able to still pull it back into a ponytail if need be but then I realized I had slipped into this bad habit of only wearing it in a ponytail. So now I feel a little more “hep” as the kids say. Very little upkeep except for a little pomade stuff to tame fly-aways and add a little definition.
I was using the hub’s manly man hair pomade that reeked of alcohol and pine trees. I decided to get something that wasn’t quite so industrial that I could call my own. Aesop’s Violet Leaf Hair Balm is PERFECT. It uses Camellia Nut, Carrot Oil and lavender. It doesn’t feel sticky or make my hair hard as a rock. It actually makes the parts I used it on feel softer. The scent is really faint but it does add a fresh whiff that doesn’t smell fake or perfumey. You only need a tiny bit to do the job so it should last for a while, which for the price is what I would expect. I had a gift card that I have had since Christmas so I felt like using it for something indulgent was necessary. I am not disappointed at all. Has anyone tried any of Aesop’s hair treatments before? Rants or raves?

Me, too. “Off with the hair.”
2 mos ago, I had a salon haircut for the first time in - 6 years! It wasn’t enough. HNL is hot and humid, espec NOW. I went back last week. She says she cut off TEN inches. Can’t tell with my hair: wavy, sometimes curly, never straight.
Before: below the middle of my back. Now: shoulder length. I feel light-headed! Still enough to pull into a ponytail.
Shorter hair = lots more styling product AND a new appliance.
Noel, we need photos of Before and After! I’ll show mine if you show yours!!!

My hair has gotten wilder and wavier in recent years. I have to use hair straightener, and even that doesn’t work so well.
Does this tame? Is your hair all straight and manageable? I envy you if so…

Hahaha Soos, I think not on the pics. Mostly because all of the before pics would be me in my pajamas or in my messy living room LOL.
10 inches is RIDICULOUS. I don’t know if I could do that. Kudos to you!
Peggy, NO! my hair is neither straight nor manageable *snort*. I just used it on the scraggly flyaways and let the rest well do what it must. I’m tired of fighting it!

Ha. You sound like me. I’ve given up flat ironing my hair. I can feel the grocery clerks staring at it sometimes… : )
